The center welcomes #CPISgraduate Dr. Monica C LaBriola back to the UH Mānoa (UHM) campus where she begins her appointment this semester as Assistant Professor of History! She joins the UHM Department of History as a Pacific History specialist. Prior to joining the department, she was Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaiʻi at West Oahu (UHWO) where she taught Pacific Islands, American, and world history. Her teaching at UHWO garnered the 2017 Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. Dr. LaBriola’s teaching record also includes experience as a volunteer elementary and high school teacher in the Marshall Islands, and teaching as a Graduate Assistant and Lecturer in History and Pacific Islands Studies courses in the UH system. She holds a PhD in History from UHM, an MA in Pacific Islands Studies from CPIS, and a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of California at Berkeley. Welcome back to Mānoa, Monica!
