Ka Lama graduate students take part in two levels of professional development:

  • A systematic and coherent model of inservice training. It iincludes the typical inservice effort which consists of a number of Workshops, but adds the necessary follow-up to see if teachers' understanding and classroom Practice have been improved. Margaret Maaka and Kathryn Au serve as Advisors for the inservice teachers, teach the majority of courses they take, and supervise their research projects.
  • Research training that incorporates writing and presenting educational research projects at national and international educational conferences.
