The Ka Lama O Ke Kaiaulu Education Academy, also called the Education Academy, began operations in October 1998 at its offices at the Leeward Community College - Wai'anae Campus (LCCWC). The purpose of the Education Academy is to improve education on the Leeward Coast of O'ahu by recruiting and training teachers with a commitment to the community. The Education Academy assists Hawaiians who wish to become teachers in obtaining their associate's degrees. It further assists these students in their efforts to meet the requirements to gain admittance to the University of Hawai'i at Manoa (UH Manoa) as well as to its College of Education Teacher Training Cohort Program.
