Brian Cassity is an arts and humanities professor at Kapi‘olani Community College.

Described as a transformative instructor, Cassity focuses on the importance of students taking responsibility for their learning, connecting assessment and analysis with objective solution. Cassity’s humbleness is matched with his sincere desire to prepare students for success and to make them informed and wise citizens of the future.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Cassity sees the world as his stage and enjoys sharing stories from his summer travels with his students. His passion for teaching is readily apparent and his lively teaching style makes every age of history imaginative and palpable.

The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the Board of Regents as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students.
