Eligibility:

Eligible applicants for an NHLP scholarship must:

  • Be Hawaiian - a descendant of the aboriginal inhabitants of the Hawaiian Islands prior to 1778 as evidenced by original, certified birth records,
  • Be a United States Citizen,
  • Have a high school diploma (or its equivalent),
  • Be a classified student in a degree-seeking program,
  • Be enrolled full-time or part-time in a regionally accredited two or four year degree granting institution of higher education,
  • Demonstrate financial need through submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),
  • Satisfactorily meet academic requirements: Minimum grade point average (Based on a 4.0 scale): 3.2 minimum for undergraduates, and 3.5 for graduates.

Deadline:

  • All documents except the SAR must be postmarked by February 16th.
  • The SAR must be postmarked by March 16 in order for your application to be considered for funding.
  • All documents will NOT be accepted before January 1st.
    NO late applications will be accepted.
