While on sabbatical last year JAIMEY HAMILTON FARIS was in residence at Cranbrook Academy of Art as their Critical Studies Fellow. While at Cranbrook she presented two talks that are related to her new body of essays called Of Islands (her current book project), which offers an understanding of how aesthetics can engage and relate current discussions of globalization with environmentalism through the emerging discourses on the anthropocene (a proposed new geologic era expressing human’s now evident and all-encompassing impact on the geologic record).
