This virtual workshop is for any US-based researcher or educator, regardless of previous cloud computing experience. If you’re new to Jetstream2 or just interested in learning about our resources, this is a great place to start.
Attendees will hear an overview of Jetstream2 including various examples and use cases, learn about the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services & Support (ACCESS) program, and learn helpful tips and tricks.
Hands-on activities will include how to access Jetstream2, as well as launching and managing virtual machines via the Exosphere interface.
This workshop is hosted by the Jetstream2 Support team, part of Research Cloud Services at Indiana University.
Prerequisites
- An ACCESS user ID. As part of the NSF’s ACCESS ecosystem, all use of Jetstream2 begins here. An ACCESS ID is not mandatory to attend the webinar, but to participate in the hands-on activities, you will need to complete this step before registering.
Objectives

- What is Jetstream2, and who is it for?
- Applying for and use ACCESS allocation credits
- Logging in to Jetstream2
- Creating a virtual machine
- Using the software collection to load popular applications
- Attaching volumes for data storage
- Transferring data to and from an instance
- Best practices for instance management
