On June 11, Professor ANNE BUSH was one of eleven designers worldwide to win a 2016 Global Design Award in the Honors category from the Society of Experiential Designers (SEGD), Washington, D.C.
Selected from 371 entries from seventeen countries, Anne’s project — Contro Spazio: Punti in Aria — was a public installation mounted in Venice, Italy in 2015. Notably, international jury members commended the project not only for its visual appeal, but also for engaging the public through an economy of means. Jurors praised the design for “using accessible mediums to encourage civic action and understanding” and for creating “a graphically delightful and “sophisticated interactive intervention.”
“Since 1987, SEGD’s Global Design Awards have honored design that connects people to place by providing direction, content, and compelling experiences… ‘The world is wide open for designers, who are leading the charge to create true user-centered experiences. They are also guided by Design Thinking and solid principles of design for user experiences.,.’ says Stephen Minning, founder and managing director of BrandCulture (Sydney) and chair of the 2016 SEGD Global Design Awards. ‘These principles are represented in the winning work.’
Anne’s project was honored alongside winning projects for the Whitney Museum of American Art (NYC), Parc Olympique Lyonnais, WalkNYC, and the Moscow Subway, among others.
