Born and raised on O‘ahu, BFA student Shannon Webb had planned to concentrate on drawing and painting but became fascinated by clay’s tactile quality and the infinite possibilities that it offers. Webb states, “Creating and making things is and has always been an interest of mine. Being able to pull something from my imagination and flesh it out right in front of me is uniquely euphoric.” Flora, fauna, and water are the sources of inspiration for the organic shapes and fluid movement in her carved utilitarian ceramic vessels. She explores the relationship between form and design with a focus on the flow of line and the resulting positive and negative spaces.
