ERIK SULLIVAN BEST IN SHOW AT HAWAI’I CRAFTSMEN 2022

Held annually since 1967, the Hawai‘i Craftsmen Annual Statewide Exhibition is a juried show featuring the finest traditional and contemporary craft from across the state of Hawai‘i. This year’s juror was Neida Bangerter, Director, Schaefer International Gallery, Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC). The exhibition opened on O’ahu, where it is on view from September 17-October 15, and will then travel to the Schaefer International Gallery in partnership with Maui Arts & Cultural Center, from November 8 – December 23.

Every year the Hawai’i Craftsmen make a range of awards to the best works chosen for the exhibition. This year, the Thurston Twigg-Smith Best in Show Award went to current MFA student Erik Sullivan. A number of department alumni are among the other prizewinners, including Jackie Mild Lau, Ian Nash, and Scott Fitzel.
