KIRSTEN SIMONSEN AT TORPEDO FACTORY ART CENTER

Lecturer Kirsten Simonsen is one of the featured artists in the exhibition “Sweet Tooth,” which runs at the Target Gallery in the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA, from January 29 through March 6. The themes of the exhibition are decadence, desire, and craving. The artworks embody this theme physically through vibrancy and the richness of color and texture. Other work represents these themes more conceptually, through explorations of coveting, gluttony, greed, and yearning. There will be a Virtual Reception on Friday, February 11 which can be seen here. The virtual exhibition catalog will be live prior to the reception.

Some of the work she is showing in this exhibition was previously shown in the Commons Gallery show “Sticky Sweet: Attraction and Anxiety,” which addressed related themes.
