MFA alumnus Kamran Samimi has been the first Hawai’i-based Artist in Residence at Shangri-la over the past year, culminating in the exhibition “Sanctuaries”, which runs from April 8 through October 2. This body of work responds to the materiality of the museum and surrounding landscape–from the collections and buildings to the stones on the hillside and the ocean waves crashing below–as conduits to a spiritual space that resides deep within each.
