STUDENT AND ALUMNI DESIGNED KOI-NOBORI IN TOKYO AND HONOLULU

Tokyo Midtown, the sponsor of numerous art exhibitions and the annual Tokyo Midtown contemporary art prize, has just installed a series of koi-nobori (carp flags) designed by UH students and alumni, as part of its “Open the Park” event which runs from April 23 to May 9. You can view the individual designs by Hawai’i designers on this gallery page. The project was made possible with organizational support from MORI by Art + Flea here in Honolulu.

This is the second time that UH students and alumni have been featured as part of Tokyo Midtown’s koi-nobori project. Seventeen flags from the previous installation in 2019 are now going up on the Grand Lanai of the Hawai’i State Art Museum in time for Children’s Day on May 5.
