EXHIBITION
2026 MFA Thesis Exhibition
March 7 – March 29, 2026
The Art Gallery, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM), Art Building
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is honored to present the thesis work of five candidates this academic year. The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) represents the highest level of achievement in visual arts education and serves as the terminal degree in the field.
Each candidate has contributed a singular perspective to our academic community, expanding its collective knowledge through rigorous research and practice. These individuals have channeled immense energy and commitment into their work, stretching the boundaries of their respective crafts. The ways in which they navigated this experience are distinct to each artist—an individuality that reveals itself in the work presented here today. The focus for some is inward, on deeply personal stories; for others, it is outward, on the context in which we are immersed; sometimes, it is the interplay of the micro and the macro.
The years preceding this exhibition have been defined by both challenge and growth, and those formative experiences are deeply embedded within the pieces on display. Our students, their families, and their friends should be immensely proud of the accomplishments embodied in these works. The Faculty and Staff in the Department of Art and Art History are honored to have witnessed the transformation each student has undergone.
Congratulations to Diane Chen, Ashley Jeneé Collins, Caroline Holmes, Sheldon Wong, and Mia Zheng!
