UH Systemwide Pamantasan Conference #BeKindToAStudent

October 5, 9:00am - 4:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Campus Center

Comprised of Filipina/o/x students, staff, and faculty from ten UH campuses, Pamantasan advocates for the representation of Filipina/o/x-American and Philippine representation in the UH System.

In honor of our beloved, late Dr. Ernest “Niki” Libarios, Jr., the theme of this year’s conference is #BeKindToAStudent. Niki was a champion for the local Filipina/o/x community in education. Through his research, he examined the impact of academic and social backgrounds on the college completion of Filipina/o/x students and advocated for increased support of Filipina/o/x students transferring from two-year to four-year colleges. He recognized the importance of positive educational experiences among students. As the Director of the Office of Student Academic Services and a co-founder of the Tinalak Education Council at the UHM College of Education, Niki made every effort, especially among Filipina/o/x and other communities underrepresented in higher education, to promote education and the teaching profession. Every day, he lived by the personal mantra to #BeKindToAStudent.
