Course participants will learn basic Japanese expressions and structures that are useful in everyday conversation. In addition to formal language instruction, classes include presentations of some of the cultural aspects of Japan and conversation practice. Learners often have the opportunity to interact with Japanese native speakers in class.
Elementary 4 follows lessons 20 through 25 of Japanese for Busy People, Volume I.
Reina Hirose Horton was born in Honolulu and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She received her BA from Waseda University, where she studied Political science and also received a MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Hawaii Pacific University. She teaches Japanese to adult and young learners. Her current interests include motivation in language acquisition and the connection between language and identity.
