Mānoa Campus, 2135 Makiki Heights Drive

Tantalus Trails Work Party The Oahu Na Ala Hele Trails program is asking volunteers to come and help on the Honolulu Mauka Trails System/Tantalus area.  The objective of the project is to restore the trail tread on 'Ualaka'a and Moleka trails, making rock water diversions on Kalawahine to Manoa Cliff Trail, and some vegetation management in the Manoa Cliff Restoration Area. Healthy trails make a healthy forest and watershed for all to enjoy. It's all starts with a trail... What to expect:   We work from 7:30am until 2:00pm. We also do "Fourth Saturdays in Makiki Wai" as a forest and watershed restoration project behind the Hawaii Nature Center.  As usual, the work will most likely be hot, itchy and dirty...... but very rewarding! Why go to the gym? When you can come work with us. There are no bathrooms and please bring your own drinking water and lunch.  Families are more than welcome but young children must be well supervised.    What to bring:  Long shirt and pants, 2 Liters of water, lunch or a snack and sturdy shoes.   Mosquito bug spray and gloves will be provided. Where:  Meet at the Makiki Forestry Baseyard just above the new Hawaii Nature Center building. 2135 Makiki Heights Drive Baseyard. Meet at 7:30 the end of the road at the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife there's a public parking lot on the right hand side, if you press the button on the green gate. From there we will travel up the mountain to the trail after we grab a tool for everyone.
