Oceanic Connections: Home-less, house-less, home-free, free ...?

February 5, 9:00am - 1:00pm
Mānoa Campus, ACCESS Lounge, Dean Hall 5/6, 2450 Campus Road

Exploring Oceanic Experiences and Perceptions of “Homelessness” in Hawaiʻi:

Talk-story sessions with homeless of Oceanic ancestry, those on the ground, who work with and in homeless communities, and UHM faculty and students. Networking lunch.

In spite of overwhelming media attention to and funding allocated to dealing with homelessness, we do not have a solid knowledge base and analysis of the situation in Hawaiʻi. This forum aim to contribute to inspire research and action, and to help increase quality of life and respect for homeless families and individuals.

Sponsors: University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa: Department of Ethnic Studies, Center for Pacific Islands Studies, Program of Civic Engagement/ACCESS/College of Social Sciences, SEED IDEAS; and the No Mo’ Haus’ Service-Learning Program and community partners.
