East-West Fest

The East-West Center Participants Association hosts East-West Fest, its annual international cultural festival, on Sunday, April 7 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Hawai‘i Imin International Conference Center, on the East-West Center campus.

Everyone is invited to join in this celebration of cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, which will feature an extensive lineup of entertainment and international experiences.

Admission to East-West Fest is free and open to the public. Festival offerings will include cultural booths staffed by Center participants representing a variety of countries from across Asia and the Pacific. The booths will include activities and photo-taking opportunities, and young attendees will receive a “keiki passport” that they can have stamped as they interact with people from around the globe.

The festival will also offer performances of international and local dance and music, featuring professional performers such as Kenny Endo’s Taiko Center of the Pacific and Kumu Vicky Holt Takamine’s halau hula Pua Ali‘i ‘Ilima, Balinese topeng and Bollywood dance, student performances, and more. Classes, including Bollywood dance and Creative Movement for Keiki will also be offered. Food trucks such as Da Spot, Govinda, and Chamorro Grindz will be selling international refreshments throughout the event.

Free parking is available Sundays on the UH Mānoa campus. Seating for performances will be on the Jefferson Hall lawn; please feel free to bring a mat or blanket.
