ICS Speaker Series: Liquid Futures by Hamilton Faris, Mei-Singh, Perez
September 12, 12:00pm - 1:15pm
Mānoa Campus, Burns Hall 2063
International Cultural Studies Graduate Certificate Program (ICS) presents the Fall 2018 Faculty Speaker Series.
This is a new ISC initiative to promote interdisciplinary faculty conversations. This year we will focus on linking discourses of "liquidity," and "liquids" across economics, law, natural sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. In these sessions, liquidity is broadly defined to include studies of economic liquidity, "flow" and "fluidity" (of water, humans, or otherwise), oceanic/maritime cultures, histories and literature, eco-philosophy, water ontologies, hydrology, atmospheric and oceanography, as well as the metaphoric and material studies of fluids (especially water and oil).
