Population aging has increasingly become a worldwide social phenomenon. To better understand the aging process and to encourage healthy aging beyond physical health and disabilities, scholars in the field of Social Gerontology introduced a new concept called "resilient aging."

UH Mānoa is hosting a special conference featuring local and international experts from Duke University, Federal University of Rio Grande de Norte, Michigan State University, New York University, Nihon University, Peking University, Portland State University, Tunghai University, UH Mānoa, University of Texas and University of Utah to share their research ideas and empirical findings on various topics concerning aging.

Conference topics include: • Healthy and Resilient Aging: New findings • Ethnic Differences in Aging and Health in the United States • Age-friendly Cities • Aging in the Context of Hawai‘i • Dementia and Caring for Elders with Dementia • Resilient Aging in Asian Societies
