Words of Advice
"Check what credits you need for your transfer program. You might be missing some credits that you could get before going to university. This helps you save money and avoid credit problems. If you're distance education, there might be some 100-200 level classes that you cannot take online. Take advantage of the automatic admission system. It's amazing, I had no fuss or problems with it. I just went through the steps, and I was a West Oahu student. I did not have to apply or write a cover letter. I'd advise you to talk to your counselor before transferring."

Words of Advice
"If students transfer to a 4-year UH institution, they should look into the majors they are interested in and refer to their respective program sheets. The program sheets clearly state what classes you need for a specific major, and most programs within a certain field require the same general credits. Meeting with an advisor about the program of interest also helps you feel more at ease. UH Mānoa's program sheets and meeting with the right counselors helped me figure out the classes I needed for my business degree. :)"

“Look at all your options and talk to those who are in/have completed the program you're interested in. There's many opportunities just within the UH system alone, whether online or in-person. Make sure you stay on top of any deadlines and information about your degree program. Check your email everyday -- they usually provide important information, which is almost all the time! If you have extra scholarship money, SAVE THEM for when you transfer. Any money saved will greatly help alleviate your financial struggles in the future. Get to know the faculty in your program and don't be afraid to ask for help and advocate for yourself.”

These steps serve as general guidelines and students are strongly encouraged to talk with an advisor to develop a transfer plan that fits their individual academic goals.
Step 1
Confirm your major and career goals.

Step 3
Know the Admissions application deadlines to the UH campus that you have chosen.
It is also important to know the application deadlines and admissions criteria for your specific major.

They can answer any questions you might have about the transfer process.
