Albie Miles

Albie Miles is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Community Food Systems at the University of Hawai’i - West O’ahu. He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy and Management from UC Berkeley. His research is focused on the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem services in agriculture, and the structural opportunities and obstacles to achieving healthy, equitable, resilient and sustainable food systems. He has worked at the UN FAO, the Center for Agroecology at UC Santa Cruz, and serves as an Executive Committee member of the Inter-Institutional Network for Food, Agriculture, and Sustainability (INFAS). He is Chief Specialty Editor of the Social Movements, Institutions & Governance section of the journal, Frontiers in Sustainable Food Systems. Dr. Miles serves as the Co-Director (with Dr Noa Lincoln) of the Ke Ō Mau Center for Sustainable Island Food Systems of the University of Hawaiʻi System.
