I am sharing my landline phone number with another person (or persons). Can the landline be registered and used for MFA by more than one person?

Yes, provided that you ensure the correct person is answering the authentication phone call. The first person to register the phone number can follow the directions for Landlines in the article, UH Login Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) - Getting started with your first device.

The second, third, etc person can also follow the instructions. However, after pressing on Continue in Step 4 of the instructions, you will have an additional step. You will be asked to verify that you also own the phone number, and will see the following screen:

Duo MFA screen asking to confirm ownership of your number.

You will need to then do either of the following:

1. Click the Send me a passcode button.
You will receive a text message with a code. Enter this code in the box above the Verify button, then click Verify.

OR

2. Click the Or call my phone link.

Answer the phone, and you will hear a code. Enter the code in the box above the Verify button, then press Verify.

Duo screen asking to confirm the passcode sent to your phone number.

You can now continue with Step 5 of the instructions.
