Brown Bag Biography with Dr. Sharon Weiner

The Center for Biographical Research presents: /“Crafting a Life: Writing the Biography of a 20th-Century Woman Artist Born and Raised in Hawai‘i”/ Dr. Sharon Weiner/Juliette May Fraser (b. 1887 Honolulu; d. 1983 Honolulu) was an artistic phenomenon of 20th Century Hawai‘i. She never departed from her single objective: to tell the story of these Islands authentically, always with a love for Hawai‘i’s natural beauty and the history, mythology, and culture of its people. Dr. Weiner will share her journey as Fraser’s biographer, focusing on the roles relationships and documented research played in her pursuit of this Hawai‘i artist. /After a brief career at Levi Strauss (Levi’s) in San Francisco, Dr. Sharon Weiner arrived in Honolulu nearly 50 years ago. Receiving her MBA from what is now Shidler College of Business at UH, she started and ran her own public relations firm for 20 years, followed by a dozen years at the international retailer DFS Group. She entered the UH PhD program in English in 2016, and graduated in May of 2022. She is the recipient of the 2022 Biography Prize, for the best work in life writing submitted by a UH graduate student. /Cosponsored by Hamilton Library, the Spark M.
