Maslenitsa Festival Presented by Russian@UH
March 6, 11:30am - 1:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Campus Center
Come down to Campus Center and celebrate Maslenitsa (or Butter Week) with RUSSIAN@UH! Enjoy Russian songs, folk games, arm wrestling, prize giveaways, and of course, lots and lots of bliny! Otherwise known as Russian pancakes, bliny are a light, delicate treat often filled with sweet or savory fillings. Bring your Manoa student ID and indulge in a bliny filled with sweet strawberry jam and honey or delectable mashed potatoes and onions. The round shape of the bliny symbolizes the sun and the fillings represent fertility and prosperity of the land. Maslenitsa is a Russian holiday that marks the ending of winter and beginning of springtime. So join us in saying goodbye to winter and saying hello to spring in this traditional cultural celebration.
