Bollywood Mondays: 'October' (2018)

February 11, 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Marine Sciences Building Room 100

'October,' by well-regarded Indian director Shoojit Sarcar, is an unusual Bollywood film. It thoughtfully probes the small things that make up love, a far cry from the traditional melodrama of love-at-first-sight that often animates cinema.

The movie centers on Dan (a toned-down Varun Dhawan) and Shiuli (debutante Banita Sandhu), two interns at a luxury hotel in Delhi. Dan's a lovable guy, although clearly needs to grow up some. After an accident happens, he is given an opportunity to do so. Whether or not to that involves love is an apt question this Valentine's Day week.

This is the second movie in the 17th UH Bollywood film series, this spring running one Monday afternoon per month. For a copy of the full film series schedule for the semester, please see the contact information below.
