Russian Film Week

During the week of International Education at UH Manoa, we will screen five recently-produced and critically acclaimed Russian films. Each film will be introduced by a student who is studyng Russian film this semester. At the end of the film we will have a discussion and Q&A.

Short Stories by Mikhail Segal, 2012
5 novellas about contemporary Russian life interconnected through one character, a novelist. Ironic, even sarcastic way of dealing with consumerism and new capitalist values.

Avant-garde inspired phantasmagoria about love and death during the 1920s.

A tragic comedy about female friendship set in contemporary Saint Petersburg.

A story of a Russian female battalion in World War I.
