Thurston Memorial Chapel, Punahou School

Waikīkī Aquarium’s Distinguished Lecture Series continues on Thursday, April 6 at Thurston Memorial Chapel, Punahou School starting at 6:30 p.m.

Saving Monk Seals with Dr. Charles Littnan of the NOAA Monk Seal Research Program

Hawaiian monk seals are found only in the Hawaiian Archipelago and like many of the state’s native species they are in dire need of conservation. Dr. Littnan’s lecture, Saving Monk Seals: Reflections on 10 Years of Conservation and the Future of Hawaii’s Native Seal, will highlight research and conservation efforts over the last few decades to improve the state of endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals. His innovative methods of public education on complex conservation issues have been essential to achieving progress.
