Cultural-Based Leadership Development (Professional Development)

August 2, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Kapiʻolani Campus, Manono Rm. 104

This 3-day seminar builds a bridge between one’s own cultural sustaining practices and professional leadership development. Increase your awareness of your own cultural values and norms and the culture of your organization and apply directly to leadership and management practices such as time management, resource management, interpersonal communications, developing your own leadership philosophy, strategic planning, employee relations, technology use, and community partnerships. Participants are guided through activities to promote connections between their own experiences and the seminar content.

The workshop will highlight elements of Dr. Mary Perez Hattori’s Chamoru culture to form the foundation of a culturally sustaining leadership within the context of American Institutions. Applying principles from their own culture, workshop participants will explore leadership models congruent with those cultures and learn ways to mobilize their own cultural identity to achieve success and inspire others to do the same.
