The inaugural production in the University of Hawai‘i at MÄnoa’s new Hawaiian Theatre program. This stage adaptation of the traditional Hawaiian mo`olelo (story) of LÄ‘ieikawai will feature hula, oli (chant), mele (song) and will be performed entirely in Hawaiian. Co-sponsored by the UHM Hawai‘inuiÄkea School of Hawaiian Knowledge and Kawaihuelani Center for Hawaiian Language.

Eia nÅ ke ho‘olaha aku nei ka hale hana keaka ‘o Kennedy i kÄ“ia hana keaka Hawai‘i mua loa o nei kahua a me ka ho‘omÅhala ‘ana a‘e o ka polokolamu hana keaka Hawai‘i o ke ke‘ena Theatre & Dance. He mo‘olelo hana keaka no LÄ‘ieikawai, ka hiwahiwa o Paliuli, ka wahine o ka li‘ulÄ. E like nÅ me ka hana a Ka HÄlau Hanakeaka, e lawelawe ‘ia ana ka hana keaka ‘o LÄ‘ieikawai ma ka ‘Ålelo Hawai‘i. E naue pÅ« mai a e luana like pÅ« mai i ke ka‘ao ‘ana o kÄ“ia mo‘olelo kaulana o ka wÄ kahiko.
