ISR SP 2024 Seminar Series :: EH@UH
March 13, 12:00pm - 1:15pmMānoa Campus, KUY 201 + zoom
The Institute for Sustainability and Resilience (ISR) Spring 2024 Seminar Series showcases the Environmental Humanities at UH Mānoa (EH@UH). Join us on Wed. 3/13/24, 12:00-1:15 pm KUY 201 + via zoom, as Vilsoni Hereniko (School of Cinematic Arts) shares “Sustainability in Film.” The coconut tree used to be the “tree of life” in all of Oceania. This is still the case for the vast majority of islands that pepper the Pacific Ocean. Why is this no longer the case in Hawai’i? Prof. Hereniko's presentation addresses the space between humans and trees, and how the coconut tree can help mitigate concerns about food security and sustainability in Hawai`i. Three short films directed by by Prof. Hereniko will be screened during this presentation. For zoom link, email isr@hawaii.edu
