How do we understand federal, state, and grassroots political processes in Hawaiʻi?

What is the purpose of reflecting on conflicting political views that shape Hawaiʻi's present?

How can archives and libraries play a role in reflecting back on our past to raise broad-based discussion on what we do with these histories in the present and future?

Join a hybrid symposium “Archives & Political Processes: A Case Study on the History of the H-3 Freeway,” which will publicly launch an online resource that curates archival materials from federal, state, and community levels that document the political processes that led to the construction and opposition to the H-3 freeway. This event is co-sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Diversity, Inclusion & Cultural Heritage at Rare Book School, the University of Hawaiʻi School of Law Library, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Hamilton Library, and Windward Community College Library.

The symposium will feature presentations and dialogue between
