Okinawan Princess: Da Legend of Hajichi Tattoos is written by a local Okinawan yonsei, Lee A. Tonouchi, and illustrated by Laura Kina, a “hapa, yonsei, Uchinanchu” artist and educator based in Chicago. The book is written in Pidgin, Hawaiian Creole English, and translated into Japanese & an Okinawan language known as Uchinaaguchi.

At this event, the author and the illustrator will discuss the significance of this book with the languages chosen and the tattoo customs and their meaning in Okinawa.
