David Roe's long public interest career includes 25 years as a senior attorney with the Environmental Defense Fund, during which, he helped pioneer the first use of sophisticated economics in support of environmental protection, and wrote the most successful law of the last 30 years in reducing unnecessary exposures to federal mediation, nearly always emphasizing cross-disciplinary approaches.

Roe was educated at Yale, Oxford, and Yale Law, taught at Harvard Law, wrote Dynamos and Virgins (Random House 1984) about some of his environmental word, and occasionally for The New Yorker.
