Seminar: Climate Change through a Resilience Lens
January 12, 12:00pm - 1:00pmMānoa Campus, 1601 East-West Road, John A. Burns Hall, Room 3121/3125 (3rd floor)

In November 2016, O‘ahu voters overwhelmingly approved the City and County of Honolulu’s Charter Amendment 7 establishing a dedicated Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resiliency (the Resilience Office) to advance island-wide sustainability goals and directly address the threat of climate change. The same year, Honolulu was selected by the Rockefeller Foundation to be part of the 100 Resilient Cities network to build a resilience strategy in light of the physical, social, and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century. The Resilience Office is seeking public input to select the areas in which O‘ahu is most vulnerable. This presentation will feature an interactive survey that will help shape a resilience strategy to guide Honolulu’s efforts over the coming years.
Josh Stanbro is Honolulu’s Chief Resilience Officer and serves as the Executive Director for the Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resiliency. He previously served as Environment and Sustainability Program Director for the Hawai‘i Community Foundation and the head of The Trust for Public Land HawaiÊ»i Office. Josh graduated from Claremont McKenna College and earned a law degree from Berkeley Law. He and his family live in PÄlolo Valley.
