Shi Qiuheng: “Frameworks and Criteria of Higher Education Institution Classification: The Chinese Design in Light of European and American Experiences”

(lecture in Chinese with English interpretation)

The lecture will cover the following topics:

the function of universities in different countries

the relationship between graduate student demand and the classification of higher education institutions

key standards in the classification of higher education institutions

the present situation and future trend of the higher education institution classification

principals of management and evaluation of the higher education institution classification in the U.S. and European countries

classification standards, level of development, and financial aid systems

About the speaker: Dr. Qiuheng Shi is a professor from Xiamen University and a leading professor in educational research in China. Dr. Shi will introduce the higher education institution classification's background and investigation in China. He is Principal Investigator of a project authorized by Chinese Education Ministry that seeks to classify Chinese higher institutions in the new era to meet the development of Chinese society and economy.
