Looking Forward, Looking Backward 40 Years of Women’s Studies at UH MÄnoa
September 18, 12:30pm - 2:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Saunders 624
Panel Discussion includes Rep. Cynthia Thielen, Paula Nakata, Nick Chagnon, Iasha King, and Lovely Highley. Women’s Studies at the University of Hawai‘i is celebrating a significant milestone—its 40th anniversary. Recently evaluated as one of top Women’s Studies Programs in the United States by external evaluators, it is time for the ten campuses that are part of the University to look back at our history, while also imagining a much bolder future for women’s and gender studies in Hawai’i and the Pacific. As our capstone event for this celebration, we are having a panel discussion: titled, "Looking Forward, Looking Backward 40 Years of Women’s Studies at the University of Hawaii," featuring our students past and present. These students, including State Representative Cynthia Thielen, will be discussing their experiences as women’s studies students.
