House of Dance in PULSO
May 22, 3:00pm - 5:00pmMānoa Campus, Art Auditorium
Award-winning dance company House of Dance from the Philippines performs PULSO (Pulse, Rhythm of the Heart) in celebration of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Center for Philippine Studies` 40th anniversary.
Through classical and modern interpretations of Philippine dance, Pulso captures aspects of the Filipino`s rich cultural heritage in rural and urban settings from the northern to the southern Philippines. It brings to life some of the more familiar dimensions of Filipino culture as well as those that are often more hidden in the hope of creating greater awareness and understanding about the origins of such customs.
The House of Dance hopes to entice both the young and the young at heart to view dance and the performing arts as productive, mentally-stimulating, fun-filled, as well as spiritually and emotionally uplifting activities worth their time.
The House of Dance is a member of the Conseil International De La Danse (CID), the UNESCO official umbrella organization for all forms of dance in all countries of the world.
