Manoa Forum presents a public lecture with Tom Coffman, recipient of the Hawai‘i Award for Literature and three-time recipient of the Hawai‘i Publishers’ Award for Best Non-Fiction.
His new book, HOW HAWAI‘I CHANGED AMERICA, explores the collaboration between the University of Hawai‘i and various community forces prior to and during World War II. Threatened by marginalization of the Japanese-ancestry population, key individuals mapped a visionary course to circumvent internment, promote interracial harmony, and maximize participation in the war effort.
Time: 6:00 -7:00 p.m. (lecture and Q&A)
Date: Wednesday, April 8, 2015
Location: School of Architecture Auditorium, UH MÄnoa Campus
Parking: Available for $6 in all lots
Join us for some light refreshments after Tom’s talk and buy your copy of the book from the UH Manoa Bookstore.
