Living Age-Friendly
February 7, 8:30am - 12:30pmJapanese Cultural Center
Living Age-Friendly, presented by Mayor Kirk Caldwell in conjunction with Kaiser Permanente, AARP Hawaii, and the University of Hawaii Center on Aging, will provide the public with a first look at plans to create an Ageâ€Friendly Honolulu. The community is invited to attend for a summary of the plan developed by the University of Hawai‘i Center on Aging and to offer insight on how the City & County of Honolulu should change to meet our aging population’s needs.
The event welcomes community members of all ages to play an active role in City and partner plans to improve the quality of life for all of Honolulu’s residents. An Ageâ€Friendly City: (1) promotes active aging in place; (2) provides an accessible and inclusive environment; and (3)implements plans and policies that facilitate older residents taking an active role in the Community. Topics of discussion will include: outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, communication and social involvement, civic participation and employment and community support and health services.
The event will be held at the Japanese Cultural Center, is free and open to the public, and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, please visit http://www.kupunatokeiki.com. Those planning to attend are asked to please RSVP at https://aarp.cvent.com/kupuna2keiki.
