James Fee (1949–2006) was born in Knoxville, Iowa. Since 1995 he has had nine solo exhibitions at Craig Krull Gallery in Santa Monica; and at the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego, 2003; William Benton Museum of Art, Storrs, Connecticut, 2001; Yancey Richardson Gallery, New York, 2000; and Prinz Gallery, Kyoto, 1997. His work is in numerous collections including the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, Arizona; Museum of the City of New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; The George Eastman House, Rochester, New York; and the Bibliotèque Nationale, Paris.
