Brad Christ has worked in higher education information technology for 25 years. He received his Master’s degree in Planning and Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. Brad is a Minnesota native, growing up in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis. He also served in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 9 years.
Prior to joining the University of Hawaiʻi, Brad served as Chief Information Officer for Eastern Washington University for more than seven years, while concurrently serving as Interim Associate Vice President for Facilities and Athletic Facilities during the final 18 months of that tenure. During his time as CIO, he directed major cloud migration efforts, expanded cybersecurity protections, implemented enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives, and modernized institutional governance and support services. Prior to EWU, he served as Chief Information Officer for Southern Oregon University for seven years, during which the Oregon University System dissolved. He began his career in higher education at Augsburg University, where he advanced through multiple positions, from technician to director, over 13 years. His work has included large-scale ERP modernization, cloud infrastructure strategy, policy development, business continuity planning, and collaborative technology initiatives across higher education systems and consortia.
Brad has been active nationally in higher education technology leadership through service with organizations including EDUCAUSE, Internet2, and the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium. For the last 13 years, he’s also served as an accreditation evaluator for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
