April 22, 12:30pm - 2:00pm
Mānoa Campus, Sakamki A201 Add to Calendar

Annika Topelian, Ph.D. Candidate in the U H Manoa Department of Linguistics, will discuss the history of the Armenian Genocide, including the context leading up to it, events that took place during, and post-genocide impacts for survivors and their descendants. The speaker will also consider the politics of naming the Genocide and that official recognition. This discussion is even more relevant in the wake of the recent ethnic cleansing of Armenians from Artsakh this past September. Ms. Topelian will also introduce her own current research on the Armenian language. The talk is free and open to the public.
