History

ABOUT THE DONOR
Founded in 1908 as The Women’s Club of the College of Hawai‘i, the Women’s Campus Club (“WCC”) of Hawai‘i is among the oldest organizations affiliated with the University of Hawai‘i (“University”). Its goals are to promote friendship among members, to encourage scholarship, and to render service to the University. WCC organizes on and off campus programs, field trips, and tours. In addition, they sponsor a number of special interest groups (bridge, books, hiking, mahjong, the Lunch Bunch, the Thrift Shop, etc.)

REASON FOR THE GIFT
The WCC has supported women students for many years with scholarships to encourage them to seek opportunities for higher education. This WCC scholarship was originally named in honor of Leora Parmalee Dean, who was club president when the College of Hawai‘i became the University of Hawai‘i. WCC members continue to contribute to this scholarship endowment fund.
