Two Poems
Jake Eduardo Vermaas is a poet and engineer residing between his Kapampangan homeland in the Philippines and the occupied Kanaka ʻŌiwi kingdom of Hawaiʻi. Claiming lineages in the Filipino and Dutch diasporas, he is an almost-MA graduate at UH Mānoa in Creative Writing. His past publications include Poetry.org’s Poem-a-Day, Margins, Capitalism Nature Socialism, Poetry Northwest, and the Vanderbilt Review, and his POC-centered reading series, the whitenoise project, is still going strong in its seventh year.
