Honolulu, Hawai'i

The name"Puette" is derived from the old Saxon word for magpie and the typically French diminutive "ette" was added by the Normans at the time of the conquest of 1066.

The shield design appearing as background to this page is a crest that dates back to the crusades in which an ancient ancestor presumably distinguished himself in battle/pillage. The three yellow circles represent "bezants" or coins from the crusades.

The name "Puette" is, therefore, a British surname and harkens back to old Staffordshire. Details of the family's movement to America have not been tied down yet, but there is evidence of migration from old Virginia to Lenoir, North Carolina around 1790.
