Kūkulu ma ke Kahua: Building on our Foundation
The University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu was awarded the Kūkulu Ma Ke Kahua Title III Grant in Fall 2012. The grant award of $2.2 million dollars will provide services for Native Hawaiian students at UH West Oʻahu to support and increase academic success, retention and persistence and degree completion. Funding will enrich current services provided by the Kealaikahiki Native Hawaiian Student Support Program at UH West Oʻahu in addition to the following: 2-year temporary grant positions, expansion of the Kealaikahiki Native Hawaiian Student Support Program, expansion of library holdings for the Native Hawaiian-Pacific Studies collection, expansion of the Noʻeau Center’s Supplemental Instructor program, development of additional courses to lead to a future degree in Hawaiian Studies, increased technology and data collection capacity and additional support for students. The increased technology includes laptops for library lending, expanded wireless internet on campus, a digital imaging system to increase UH West Oʻahu efficiency and more.
