About

The Hawai‘i Educational Research Association (HERA) provides a forum for sharing issues, insights, and research findings with educational researchers, administrators, teachers, and others who want to improve educational practice. Through its annual conference, publications, and periodic forums, HERA is a source of information for concerned educators in Hawai‘i. HERA also sponsors the Pacific Educational Research Journal, a refereed journal published annually. HERA is a member of the Consortium of State and Regional Educational Research Associations, an affiliate of the American Educational Research Association.

HERA independently and with other educational organizations periodically sponsors forums featuring prominent educators visiting Hawai‘i. On March 29, 2011, we hosted a talk story with Charles Du, the Western Mobile Development Executive for Apple Inc. In summer 2010, we hosted a forum co-sponsored by the Curriculum Research & Development Group and the Hawaii Educational Policy Center. Our invited speaker was James W. Guthrie, Senior Fellow and Director of Education Policy Studies at the George W. Bush Institute. On February 25, 2019, we hosted a brown-bag session with Lawrence O. Picus, University of Southern California on Hawai‘i PK-12 School Finance: Identifying Adequate Funding Levels and Distributing Resources Equitably.
