In November of 2023, Washington Middle After School All-Stars program hosted its first visit from the SLS Department, and possibly the students' first exposure to second language learning and second language education as a field of study.
The Washington Middle After School All-Stars is a program that creates opportunities for their students to experience different school related activities after the school day ends. This program also includes hosting guest speakers to discuss and share their areas of interest with the students.
As the initial visit was well received by the staff members and the students, the SLS Department was given an open invitation to return to the All-Star program and returned in April of 2024. Both the Washington Middle After School All-Stars and the Department of SLS look forward to their continuing partnership and educating future members of the local community.
